Yoga and Reiki

Emotions are a physical and energetic phenomenon. You feel them in your chest, your face, your throat, your gut. Sometimes they feel stuck. Or dull. Or unknowable. They might sometimes feel intolerable.

Yoga practices can help you develop strength and flexibility in your body, mind, and emotional responses. As you develop a practice of yoga you develop mastery and confidence. Classes that are specifically “trauma-informed” focus on re-establishing a sense of internal rhythm, firm grounding in time and place, and learning skills to balance nervous system responses.

Reiki sessions can help you cultivate awareness of subtle sensations. This is incredibly useful for those of us who tend to feel “too much” or “too little” or who are working on tapping in to ourselves so we can get clearer about how we feel or what we know.

  • 8 Wednesdays, March 27 - May 15, 2024 3:45-5:00 PM ET.

    Each meeting of this 8-session group will include time for checking in, lessons on how specific yoga practices help with trauma recovery, and guided practice so you will experience the effects in your own body. Most importantly, you’ll learn ways to regulate and re-set your nervous system you can use every day.

    We’ll keep the group small. It won’t be too strenuous. You don’t need experience or special clothes or a flexible body. LGBTQ+, size, and culture affirming, for sure.

  • So helpful if you’re recovering from a physical or emotional injury; for times when you don’t quite recognize yourself or know what you can and can’t do. n person or online. Feel free to contact me to discuss before booking.

  • You might think of a reiki session as an unbelievably gentle massage.

    Clients are fully clothed, but with shoes off. They lie on a massage table or rest in a massage chair. After some discussion, and with full permission throughout, the practitioner puts hands on or near specific spots on the body to focus energy and awareness.

    Many people describe the effect as relaxing and centering. Some people experience pain relief and describe a deep feeling of peace and resonance.
